Our Commitment to Net Zero
In response to the Government’s Net Zero Strategy, our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, and our aim to become net zero by 2050, is built around proactive actions across the following key areas:
Reducing Carbon Emissions
We currently work to reduce our carbon footprint in a variety of ways, further evaluation will continue regularly, and additional measures taken if necessary. Our approach includes:
-
Energy Efficiency: We prioritise the use of energy-efficient technologies and practices where possible. This includes energy-efficient lighting, equipment, and processes.
-
Sustainable Transport: We encourage the reduction of emissions related to transport by promoting the use of public transport and cycling and encouraging remote working or virtual meetings where feasible. We are currently evaluating the introduction of a bike to work scheme.
-
Carbon Audits: We are in the process of implementing annual carbon audits and will use these to monitor, measure, and reduce emissions associated with our operations. Where possible we will continue to use companies within our supply chain that demonstrate sound environmental credentials.
Supporting Low Carbon Technologies and Green Innovation
We are committed to supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy through the integration of innovative and sustainable technologies:
-
Green Procurement: We will prioritize sourcing products and services from suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, such as those offering low carbon, recycled, or biodegradable materials.
-
Innovation: We will consider applying green innovations such as renewable energy systems, waste-to-energy technologies, and carbon capture initiatives where we have control over wider premises management.
Circular Economy and Waste Reduction
We are committed to minimizing waste, promoting recycling, and supporting a circular economy within our supply chain:
-
Waste Minimization: We have adopted practices that minimize the generation of waste throughout our organisation. This includes efficient use of resources, reducing single-use materials, and ensuring all waste is segregated, recycled, or reused where possible. This is reviewed quarterly and will continue to be refined where further positive impact can be made.
-
Product Life Cycle: We will ensure that any products and materials used in the delivery of our services are designed for longevity and can be reused or recycled at the end of their lifecycle.
Sustainable Supply Chain Practices
We will encourage our suppliers to adopt sustainable practices and support them in reducing their environmental impact:
-
Supplier Sustainability Audits: We will assess the sustainability credentials of our suppliers, ensuring they comply with environmental standards and are actively working to reduce their environmental footprint.
Engagement and Education on Climate Action
We will ensure that all stakeholders involved in our daily operations and our wider organisation are engaged in the fight against climate change:
-
Awareness and Training: We provide training for our staff on sustainability best practices, the importance of reducing carbon emissions, and how to incorporate climate action into their work.
Long-Term Commitment to Sustainability
Our approach to fighting climate change is not just a short-term initiative; it is a long-term commitment:
-
Sustainability Reporting: We aim to work towards publishing regular reports on our environmental impact and progress made toward reducing carbon emissions, providing transparency and accountability throughout organisation.
In summary, we are fully committed to ensuring every opportunity is taken to minimise our carbon footprint, through a comprehensive approach that combines energy efficiency, innovation, waste reduction, sustainable supply chain practices, and stakeholder engagement. By integrating these efforts, we aim to not only meet but exceed the expectations set out in the Government’s Net Zero Strategy, making a lasting positive impact on the environment and society.
