Values and Behaviours
In order to achieve its Corporate Mission, which is: To support excellence in Primary Care in Kingston
And Corporate Aims to:
- Improve access to clinical care for patients in Kingston
- Support GP Practices in Kingston to provide high quality care
- Help build the NHS workforce of the future
KGPC expects its staff to perform their roles to the best of their ability, displaying a high level of care, compassion and integrity. These principles are currently well demonstrated by our leadership team; and as a result of leading by example, our Board and managers have succeeded in informally harbouring an internal culture which instils these principles in our staff.
However, this culture would be further enhanced and embedded by the development of a set of formal Values and Behaviours, which would be used to both set behavioural expectations for our staff, and to provide our patients and those who refer into and commission our services with assurances about the service they will receive from us.
Message from our Chairman
Kingston GP Chambers is a federation of all NHS General Practices (Primary Care) within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. It was founded in 2008 as a limited company whose shareholders are all 21 GP Practices within Kingston. Our mission is to promote and protect the voice of general practice in an ever changing medical environment. The company is led by a Board of Directors who are also GP Partners in their own Practices within Kingston. Board meetings are held monthly and shareholder (Members) meetings bi-monthly.
The main aims of Kingston GP Chambers are to:
Provide the patients of Kingston with access to a range of extended and enhanced clinical services on an equitable basis, regardless of the range of services their own particular surgery is able to offer.
Assist all GP practices within Kingston to provide high quality service, by supporting and co-ordinating development programmes.
Kingston GP Chambers has worked collaboratively with both secondary care and the private sector. At present we provide community clinics for Dermatology, Urology, Neurology, Dementia and Diabetes.
In addition Kingston GP Chambers are at the forefront of improving patient access to primary care. We provide a GP presence at the front of house for Kingston A&E and also deliver a comprehensive extended hours service offering GP appointments across three hubs in the evenings Monday to Friday, over the weekend and on Bank Holidays.
Over the last ten years Kingston GP Chambers has grown from being a small independent provider to being one of the key players within the Borough in healthcare provision. Working collaboratively with like-minded organisations has been a key feature of KGPCs success to date. Ventures have been formed with Your Health Care, Kingston Hospital and Newmedica in order to deliver patient centred care closer to home.
Kingston GP Chambers has the ability to respond rapidly and we have continued to demonstrate the capability to provide high quality, innovative and timely solutions to improving patient care and experience. We work closely alongside the other GP federations in Southwest London to continue the governments five-year forward plan and deliver patient services in the community. We aim to continue to grow as we are increasingly recognised as the provider of choice for extended, enhanced and urgent GP services. We also expect an increasing role as we support, reinforce and develop the position of general practice as the core building block for an increasing range of jointly-provided services.
All this has been achieved by utilising the skills, dedication and innovation of your local general practice teams. Contributions from local GPs, Practice Nurses and Practice Managers has been invaluable. There is a continuing challenge for us as a comparatively small organisation to maintain active participation in the plethora of initiatives being pursued locally, but we will continue to do our best with limited resources.
Personally it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to Chair this organisation and to see local Primary Care teams work collaboratively to improve the patient’s care in the community.
